Kampung Naga is a part of the village of Neglasari. It is
the Selawu district, regency of Tasikmalaya, West Java. The peaceful and green village is only
500 metres from the main road between Garut and Tasikmalaya.To reach the place,
people need to go down a stairways of 350 steps. It leads from the side of
highway to place of Ciwulan river. The village is located on a hillside by the
river. Most of Kampung Naga Villagers are either farmers or farms labourers.
They do not demand much. For example, the rich man in the village lives in a
house which is not different from any other in the village. There is no
television set, no bad with mattress, no sofa, not even a cupboard. They do not
paint their house either. There are many taboos in the Kampung Naga society,
known as “tilu basa’ (three taboos): pamali (advice not doing certain conduct),
teu hade (prohibition to commit bad things), and cadu( prevention of destroying
environment).

When we stayed in a hotel at West
Bali National Park, we ordered dinner. The hotel offered the dinner at the
gazebo which was perched just above water at the beach. So I thought, “Sure, we
would give that a try”.
About the food, the dinner turned
out to be multi course dinner. First, we were being served with extremely delicious
fried peanuts with peppers and soy sauce. Then, we had a seafood soup. Next, was the full platter. The rice in the
middle was shaped with a banana leaf cone, and was cooked with coconut milk and
corn. We were really full from all the food, and found out delightfully that we
were having dessert as well, fried banana.
Throughout the dinner, we were
looking around and admiring our environment. We noted that at nook at the very
top of the gazebo, there was a little white mouse. I had to say it was a first
time ever eating with the presence of a mouse. At first, I was a little uneasy.
Then, I released, it was all part of nature , the gazebo was probably his home,
and we were the visitors.

a chrysalis that was close to its time to change. The chrysalis moved and this

shell!’ the chrysalis heard all this, but did not try to make any reply.
